Alvin Henry STILLSON

Alvin Henry STILLSON was born on Feb. 25th 1829 in Saint-Lawerence, Jefferson Co.N.Y. He was the son of Briggs STILLSON and Sophia HUTCHINS.

He came to MI. with his mother in 1836 (Mother was recieved as a member of the United Congregational and Presbyterian church of Battle Creek MI. in Dec.1836) extrated from Pioneer Society of MI.

I have no record of where his father was at this time. He had 1 brother Samuel Elisha born Dec. 22nd 1833 in Rochester, Monroe Co. NY.and 2 sisters Adeline born abt.1825 in St Lawerence NY.and Caterine born abt.1827 in Fowler twp. St-Lawerece NY.

He married Minerva SMEAD 7 Apr.1850 in Newark Allegan Co. MI.by John Parsons. Whitnesses Robert G Miner and Catherine Clayton.

Alvin enlisted in Company I. Seventeenth Infantry,29 Aug. 1864 from Saugatuck.Mustered 8 Sep 1864. Mustered out at Delaney House. D.C., 3 June 1865 and returned to MI.(found in MI. soldiers volume 17 page 100)

During his life he was a laborer,farmer and carpenter that I know of.

Children of Alvin and Minerva are William B., Helen N.,Catherine,John C.,Henry, Samuel C.,Minerva C., and Millie. All where born in Allegan Co.MI.

Alvin died 19,Sep.1917 in Saugatuck Allegan Co.MI. He is buried at Riverside Cemetery Block-Lot 2-3-1
